TV Review: Wynonna Earp

Okay, so I’m two years late to the Wynonna Earp fan party but I’m partying hard nonetheless because this show is the TITS.

The story follows Wynonna Earp, descendant of the gunslinger Wyatt Earp, who is cursed to put down the demon reincarnations of the men and women Wyatt killed during his lifetime. Helping her/practically doing all of the research is her sister Waverly (AKA the cutest nugget of all time), handsomely mysterious government employee Xavier Dolls, moustacheo-ed gunslinger John Henry and Officer Nicole Haught of the local Sheriff’s office (AKA the second cutest nugget of all time).

This show has all my favourite things – complex, fucked-up, emotional female characters who will kick ass and drink and swear while keeping their perfect hair. What more could I ask for?

Oh! That’s right – women loving women! #WayhaughtForLife.

I recently binge watched this show in about 4 days and I feel like it was one of my best life decisions. It’s so female-centric with its humour, its emphasis on female relationships and its treatment of female sexuality and it doesn’t use any of this as an excuse to shy away from violence.

Season 1 is on UK Netflix and Season 2 has just finished on Channel 5 in the UK at the frankly INSULTING time of 1am but I digress.

If you loved Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Charmed and Supernatural, you are gonna love Wynonna Earp.

Watched it and loved it? Let me know in the comments.
